Quotes, Aphorisms, Laws, and Thoughts
Слава Україні!

A proverb is the wit of one, and the wisdom of many.
Almost every wise saying has an opposite one, no less wise, to balance it.
An aphorism can never be the whole truth; it is either a half-truth or a truth-and-a-half.
Der Aphorismus deckt sich nie mit der Wahrheit; er ist entweder eine halbe Wahrheit oder anderthalb.
Drawing on my fine command of the English language, I said nothing.
I might repeat to myself, slowly and soothingly, a list of quotations beautiful from minds profound; if i can remember any of the damn things.
 I really didn't say everything I said.
It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations.
It's better to be quotable than to be honest.
Many things which go under my name are badly translated from the German or are invented by other people.
Pithy sentences are like sharp nails which force truth upon our memory.
Someone who can write aphorisms should not fritter away his time writing essays.
Einer, der Aphorismen schreiben kann, sollte sich nicht in Aufsätzen zersplittern.
The great writers of aphorisms read as if they had all known each other very well.
The purpose of aphorisms is to keep fools who have memorised them from having nothing to say.
The surest way to make a monkey of a man is to quote him.
Thou art a retailer of phrases, and dost deal in remnants of remnants.
When a thing has been said and said well, have no scruple: take it and copy it.
Quand une chose a été dite et bien dite, n'ayez aucun scrupule, prenez-la, copiez.
